Phone: 202-316-8558 Mr. Kamula received both his Bachelor of Arts degree (magna cum laude, 1986) and his Juris Doctor degree (1989) from the University of Miami and was inducted as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. After graduation, he practiced extensively in various areas focusing primarily on admiralty, maritime, aviation, insurance defense, real estate and corporate matters. During his twenty-one year practice, Mr. Kamula has had the opportunity to advise and counsel several national insurance carriers on a variety of topics including, but not limited to primary insurance defense; risk management, real estate and corporate transactional issues. He has represented a diverse spectrum of maritime and corporate entities including nationally and internationally known cruise lines, shipping companies, ports, private yacht and mega-yacht owners, corporations and individuals. After practicing with preeminent firms in the South Florida area, Mr. Kamula became the managing named partner in his own law firm specializing in maritime law and corporate real estate transactions. Mr. Kamula transitioned from litigation into the corporate world by assuming the position of Executive Vice President of Operations and General Counsel to a California-based IT services corporation. In this capacity he oversaw all operational, transactional, real estate and legal matters for the company in the diverse arenas in which the company did business including the Federal government and various state governments. He currently works as Dunlap, Grubb & Weaver’s of counsel lawyer for their Naples, Florida office which includes all of his practice areas as well as Strategic Legal Consulting on both the East and West Coasts of the United States. Mr. Kamula has lectured at numerous seminars focusing on legal ethics in the changing world of legal technology in addition to speaking at various trade organization events on a wide variety of business, corporate, legal, and real estate topics. Mr. Kamula is admitted to the practice of law in three states: California, Florida, and Washington, as well as several Federal Courts within those states. |
